GET IN HERE... ITS HOT AND ITS WOOD

Quite recently a potential customer walked into our office for consultation on her new house, as eager and willing to serve as i was, i brought out all our samples, from wallpapers, to 3D wall coverings and throw pillows for decorative, window blinds, and wood flooring.. Ghen Ghen wood flooring that's where the issues came up, trust Nigerians and their unwillingness to try new things..
"Madam i'd advice you use wood flooring, since you are going to the boho chic modern living room style' i purred, obviously she had taste but was so reluctant to try a new product
" No ooo, i don't want it",
"why Madam, it will look good with your scheme" i replied
"no it wont be fine, it looks some how", it is this it is that, I showed her pictures but she went on and on
"besides what are the advantages of using wood flooring as opposed to the tiles in every Nigerian home" she retorted...
I was like huh" but obviously in my mind. As a sharp sales person that i am, i went ahead to list some of the main advantages of using wooden flooring, finally at the end of the day she went home a very happy woman and definitely more knowledgeable and by the end of that month she had her newly installed wood flooring in her living room and yeah she loved it!

Whether it's a residential interior, or a commercial installation, hard wood floors add an air of class, as well as structural strength. Hardwood floors are said to lend a sense of permanence to an interior and remain to be the most popular flooring choice for those who value tradition the most.
But then there are reasons, beyond the traditional values, which make hard wood floors a practical and decorative preference.
Here is an overview:
Straight-forward installation for those with experience: quality hard wood floors are specifically engineered to ensure a uniform and stable fit. The choice between finished and unfinished hard wood floors is an important factor in this, of course.
Easy to clean: Hard wood floors are very easy to clean as they do not accumulate a lot of dirt, dust, and debris. A weekly cleaning procedure involves vacuuming, moping and keeping the floor dry. That's it!
High quality look: Hard wood floors give an elegant aesthetic and high-end look. Hard wood floors offer the warmth, beauty and value of wood and never goes out of style. Hard wood floors are also said to enable a look of spaciousness wherever they are installed.

Strength and durability: High quality hard wood floors that are kiln-dried, manufactured, installed and finished to certain standards can last for generations. The hard wood floors are tough, hard-wearing, and have long term durability. They can stand up to active work spaces and heavy foot traffic.
A Good investment: Choosing hard wood floors increases the value of your property. It is a great long-term investment and can actually become a strong resale argument, exceeding the initial installation cost of the floors. It also enables a faster sale and brings higher prices at the time of resale.
More benefits of hard wood floors:
Variety: Hard wood floors offer maximum choices in appearance. There are many colors, styles, stains and species available. An addition is a choice in the available finish that is pre-finished and unfinished hard wood floors. No matter how diverse and unique your needs are, there is always an option for you with hard wood floors.
Better acoustics: A properly installed hardwood floor never gives you hollow sounds or vibrations.
Low maintenance: Hard wood floors and the floor finish are easy to keep and maintain.
Healthy indoor air quality: These floors are a healthy choice for interior environments. It has no fibers, grout lines or embossing that can trap dust, pollen, particles, animal dander and allergens that occur with carpets. They are the best choice of flooring with allergy sufferers and improve air quality.
Ageless quality: When other floors will begin to look tired and worn, your hard wood floors will still look beautiful. And your hard wood floors become more valuable as time goes by. Also keep in mind that unlike carpeting and vinyl, hard wood floors can be refinished rather than replaced when the finish has worn out.

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN INSPIRATION

Changing your tires are like the simplest task, but really what do you do with the old tyres, keep it to add junk and take up space in your attic or storage room, or do you just sell it for peanuts more than 98% off the purchase price.... What we do not know is that basically you can recycle your car tyres and it can function in many ways as possible, like coffee tables, cushions, center tables,. All you need is time and a little bit of creativity.
So our Boss recently changed her tyres, while wondering if she should sell or not, she got caught up with the idea of making a center table with 2 of her car tyres. [yeah Industrial design ideas all up in her head at that point.].

After making the decision of the center table, we had to call an expert joiner on how to join both tyres together. After joining both tyres with an adhesive, the joiner place flat round wood on both sides of the joined tyre and a skeleton inside. It was spray painted yellow.
We chose yellow because that is part of the color scheme existing in the office space already... Our artist did the graffiti art seen on the tyres and the round glass was placed to give the the tyres a larger surface...

Literally deciding on what to do is the toughest part of the project, but once you have decided on what to do it goes on smoothly thereon.

OFFICE PROJECT 1

Our client has owned this office building for years and constantly thought of setting it up again but kept putting it off because he didn't want to rush decisions as its easy to make mistakes and it will cost in the long run. We setting up shop right beside his present office was like a breath of relief for our client. His words "i just want a good office space where i can relax and start my writing ." (FYI- He wants to start writing again, So watch for that next best seller..........Might just be our client)bearing that in mind we embarked on this fun journey of refining the space.

Images of the proposed office space:

The space was in good shape and didn't need restructuring or alterations to the form..
And now the look After...

The furniture pieces were bought from Bedmate furniture, but the client already bought the center rug and coffee table he insisted on using in his space. [still came out cozy though]. I totally adore the center piece decorative. Wooden window blinds were used instead of drapes [though if you want to try drapes instead of blinds you can go for a dark plain drape, as it wards off light effectively as well. ]

The wallpaper was mixed, we had one roll of the green and white leafy wallpaper and 3 rolls of green and gold dust wallpaper {you might not be able to make out the details of the wall paper through the picture.}. We used green here because the client wanted a tranquil environment and green give that feeling of tranquility and peace. The walls were kept neutral [cream] to enable it blend with the wall paper.

The wood flooring used was a 10mm mocha fine line flooring, as as you know we had to keep it simple there as well, so as not to distract our client .

The flower vase was kept big because a small or medium sized one wouldn't fit quite well into the space, the bolder the better. The kitchenette, micro wave, water dispenser and mini fridge were placed for our client to be able to eat, drink and have refreshments in is office.

Our best feature definitely has to be the wall mirror, it just adds a little whimsy to the space and as usual it doubles as a wall decorative as well. We were lucky to have found this piece.

This part of the wardrobe was open so we turned it into an open shelve nit for books only though, but for photo frames and decorative [...............see double function]

I hope you enjoyed this post, you can achieve this as well............... Please drop your comment and questions.....
