DIY- Temporary Wallpapers 1

Welcome to a new year, and our first post of the year is the Do it yourself starter pack for temporary wallpapers .

Now before you start , you have to know that wallpaper patterns are meant to repeat beautifully so been extremely careful is a must.
Hanging wallpaper is a two-man job, so get a friend either by hook or by bribe to help you in the process.

Needs:
Painters tape
sponge/foam
sharp utility knife
screed
water
cloth
newspaper

PREPARE YOUR WALL

Screed your wall , the wall or surface which your are applying  the wallpaper should be clean and free of dust. Patch any damaged areas of the wall, especially sharp edges because it might damage the wallpaper.

Choose a starting point and hang from left to right to ensure a smooth repeat of the designs across the wall or surface. Apply your glue [usually top bond] to the wall with a paint brush or a roller and also a little at the back of the wallpaper.

Align the top of the wallpaper with the ceiling [you do not want the edges showing because its going to be really ugly, so you have to be extra careful to make sure it is well positioned.] Once the paper is in position, smooth downward with a dam foam or sponge to remove excess glue, taking extra care to remove large air bubbles; smaller air bubble will dissipate when the wallpaper dries up.

When applying your second strip of wallpaper apply it so that its left side overlaps the right side of the previous strip by at least ¾  inch, carefully [you have to make sure the wallpaper is not upside down , as this is going to disrupt the flow of the designs and patterns. [Do not trim the overlap; it will help guarantee that the wallpaper will repeat seamlessly [if not the seams and edges will be obvious].

Repeat this step , moving from the left to the right making sure to align each new strip over the strip to its left.

More to come in the second part......  But if you feel its time consuming just hire an installer...
